STUFF I DO

The music and people I am working with now.

NEW FOSSILS

New Fossils emerges as a fresh force in Budapest’s dynamic jazz landscape, blending youthful energy with seasoned expertise. Anchored by drummer Dániel Ferenc Szabó and bassist Marcell Gyányi, the band represents a convergence of top-tier talent from diverse musical backgrounds.

Their journey to prominence includes opening for Alfa Mist, winning Best Alternative Album of the Year for their debut album recognized by local media, and collaborating with Norwegian ECM artist Mathias Eick. These milestones underscore their commitment to pushing boundaries and forging new sonic frontiers, solidifying their status as trailblazers in the local jazz community.

In keeping with their grassroots approach, New Fossils proudly embodies a DIY attitude, exemplified by the establishment of their own label, ‘Morotva Records’. This commitment to independence underscores their humility and determination to carve out a unique path in the global jazz scene.

MORDÁI

Mordái, a band rooted in reinterpretations of folk songs, emerged from the fusion of 1970s Hungarian progressive folk—pioneered by names like Muzsikás, Sebő, and Kolinda—alongside classic Anglo-Saxon guitar music and jazz. Their debut album attracted considerable attention, with the group describing its tone as evoking "the dark spirit of outlaws." This release also sparked international interest, leading to performances at key events, including Eurosonic, an essential stepping stone in the European music scene. Between albums, the band expanded to a six-piece, evolving its distinctive sound with the addition of two saxophones.

DDT

DDT is an innovative ensemble known for its fusion of welded beats, live grooves, and psychedelic synths, creating a sound that is both experimental and deeply groove-driven. The group was born from spontaneous jam sessions among friends, where they explored an organic mix of programmed loops, saxophone, bass, and effects. With the addition of guest drummer Levi Boros on key tracks, DDT brings a rich texture and improvisational spirit to their music.

Their debut album, Curved Air and Microchips, showcases playful, metaphor-laden titles and a genre-blending style that draws on elements of hyperwave and nods to influential artists. With upcoming collaborations, new releases, and plans to relaunch their live jam series, DDT is quickly establishing itself as a bold force in contemporary music.

DANIEL ARON

Well… this is me. This is my solo project, where I mostly record various instruments, produce, design, and shape these ideas into songs. It’s my indie side.

I’m also active as a collaborator and co-producer under this name. I'd say you’ll find the more pop and dreamy stuff here. Well… that’s probably not entirely true, since my work is a bit all over the place, but here I’ve tried to categorize it and put a label on it.
